Урок проводится в рамках учебной рабочей программы по УМК English in Mind Second edition (издательство Cambridge University Press), unit 2 “ Helping Other People”.
Цель урока:
- Воспитательный аспект – формирование у учащихся чувства сострадания,готовности помочь нуждающимся, формирование уважительного отношения к мнению собеседника, способностей анализировать и давать оценку поступкам и событиям, высказать свою точку зрения, личное отношение к проблеме.
- Социокультурный аспект – знакомство с работой благотворительных организаций в Великобритании, Америке и в России. Знакомство с мнением зарубежных сверстников о благотворительности и помощи другим людям.
- Развивающий аспект – закрепление способности учащихся к осуществлению продуктивных речевых действий, к логическому изложению.
- Лингвистический аспект – совершенствование практических навыков владения лексикой по теме. Практика говорения.
Задачи урока: содействовать воспитанию нравственных качеств учащихся, уделив внимание воспитанию активной жизненной позиции помощи нуждающимся людям.
Форма организации деятельности детей: индивидуальная работа с текстом, индивидуальная работа – ответы на вопросы, групповая работа– дискуссия.
Оснащение урока: УМК English in Mind Second edition ( издательство Cambridge University Press), компьютер и экран с функцией вывода информации на экран для показа презентации Power Point “ Let’s help other people together”, карточки ( flashcards) с новой активной лексикой по теме, video 1 “ Thank you volunteers!”, video 2 “
Ход занятия
Good morning, dear friends! The topic of this lesson is very important in our life and very serious nowadays. It sounds: “Charity”. We’ll talk about British , Russian and international charities, their help and actions; volunteers, about needy people and their life.

Match the words with their definitions:
1) A charity – a) money, that somebody gives to help a person
or organization.
2) A volunteer – b) people who have no place to live.
3) An orphan – c) people who have very little food or money.
4) Disabled people – d) the feeling you have when you understand why
someone is sad and want to help him/her
feel better.
5) Needy people – e) a child whose parents are dead.
6) Lonely people – f) people who cannot use a part of their body.
7) Homeless people – g) an organisation that helps poor people.
8) Donation – h) a person who helps without any money.
9) Sympathy – i) unhappy people because they are alone.
You know that there are more than 157,000 charities in Britain. And there are charity organisations for every area of life.
TEACHER: And now I am going to show you a presentation about the charity. Look at the screen very attentively and get ready to answer my questions. (Power point – Let’s help other people together). После просмотра учащиеся отвечают на вопросы учителя:
TEACHER: And now answer my questions, please.
- What is a charity?
- Who or what do these charities help?
- How does each organization help?
- Why do people work for charity?
- Do you think that the charity organizations are important? Why?
TEACHER: Very well, thank you for your answers. You are absolutely right! This work is very important and every person must give a helping hand to those who need it.
And now, let’s read a text about a volunteer job “ Helping at a hospital”. ( SB p. 18).

TEACHER: Very well. The next task for you is to prepare the dialogues. The first phrase in your conversations must be the sentence “I am going to be a volunteer”. Ask each other questions to get more information. ( Учащиеся подготавливают диалоги, начинающиеся с определенной фразы, и разыгрывают их).
Примерный диалог:
– Hello, Nick!
– Hi, Mark! I am going to be a volunteer!
– Really? And what are you going to do?
– I am going to help needy people.
– How are you going to help them?
– My friends and I are going to raise money and clothes for them.
– And when are you going to work?
– After classes. And what about you?
… .
TEACHER: Very well. And now let’s watch a short video film about volunteers. ( Video “ Thank you volunteers”).
– Why do kids say thank you to the volunteers?
TEACHER: There are many organisations which are involved in voluntary work in our
country. There are many charities in our country. Many adults and children in Russia do
something for charity.
There are funds in Russia which help children with oncohematological and other serious illnesses. Here are some of them:
charity foundation “Zhizn” ( “Life”) — it helps children with oncological and oncohematological diseases;
charity foundation “Advita” – it also helps children and adults with oncological diseases who are generally on treatment in St. Petersburg.
Charity foundation of A. Vavilov. – it helps children sick with leukemia. Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan
charity foundation “Children's Hearts” — it helps children up to 18 years, the patient with congenital heart diseases and vessels.
charity foundation “Life as Miracle” — it helps children with a serious illness of a liver.
charity foundation “Nastenka “— it helps children with oncological diseases who are on treatment in scientific research institute of children's oncology and hematology of RONTs Russian Academy of Medical Science of N.N. Blochin.
charity foundation “Podsolnukh“ ( “sunflower”)— it helps the children up to 18 years suffering from the congenital immunodeficiency and autoimmune diseases;
charity foundation “Kislorod” (“oxygen “)— it helps the children and adults with with the desease of cystic fibrosis;
charity foundation “Galchonok” — it helps with the treatment, rehabilitation and also gives social and psychological support to children with organic damages of the central nervous system (CNS);
Charity Fund of Konstantin Khabenskiy– the fund is engaged in the organization of the help to children with oncological and other serious illness of a brain;
The Gulf Stream fund — helps seriously ill children and adults with diseases of the central nervous system and violations of the musculoskeletal device, with heart diseases.
And there are some other funds which do a great work so help children in need.
So, now you’ve got a lot of information about charities and about people who try make the world a better place. Now it’s time for you to create your own charity. You must think of the name for your charity, your motto and your aims. It’s a project work and I want you to work together. (Учащимся предоставляется 7-10 минут на подготовку. Если группа большая, то целесообразнее разделить ее на 2-3 подгруппы. После подготовки ученики предоставляют свой вариант благотворительной организации).

TEACHER: Thank you very much for your answers. They were splendid. But our lesson hasn’t finished yet and I want to suggest you a game. I want you to divide into two teams

In spite of the fact that there is a great number of people who are involved in voluntary work, there are a lot of charities all over the world, the problems of the needy unfortunately still exist. And we are to help them to overcome their problems. We can do a lot – all we need is just a wish to do it.
